New Generation of Dr. Martens


Born out of an unlikely marriage between a German inventor and an English family from Northamptonshire, Dr. Martens – at first a working class symbol and then one of revolution – is without doubt one of the world’s most iconic brands.

Meeting through an advert in the classified pages of a magazine, Dr. Klaus Maertens, with his shoe sole made of air, and the Griggs family, with their long history of quality footwear production, put their skills together and created a boot that at once defined comfort, was practical, hard wearing and had all the hallmarks of a design classic.

Embraced first of all by the working classes, a quiet revolution was already underway… Skinheads, fanatical about their fashion became the first subculture to adopt the boot in the early 1960s, with punks, rebelling against everything and taking just Dr. Martens with them, joining shortly after. Before long, almost every other subculture – mods, glam, ska, Goths, grunge, psychobillies, nu-metal, straight-edge, Britpop and more – adopted Dr. Martens as their symbol of empowerment, individuality and freedom; not only does this speak of Dr Martens’ incredibly strong identity – achieved without a single penny spent on marketing – but also the cultural significance of a brand that shouldn’t really be thought of as a brand at all.

And while the world may have changed beyond recognition since Dr. Marten’s early days, some things remain the same: Dr. Martens are still a design classic, they still stand for quality and they still represent empowerment, individuality and freedom to countless people across the world.

Years ago when I was a young girl, I owned my first pair. They were black, it was love at first sight. One day I’m surfing sites looking for cute seasonal trends and see that Dr. Martens were coming back! I was so excited and then, this new generation of Dr. Martens are bright, colourful, happy-looking.

Great Local Brand, Great Local Design

"Great local brand, great local design!", kata yang pertama kali diucapkan di dalam hati. Saat pertama kali datang ke area ini, gue langsung jatuh cinta, mata dibuat sulit untuk kedip. Takjub dan bangga ngeliat area tersebut. Hal yang dimaksud adalah LevelOne, GI. LevelOne merupakan tempat kreativitas khusus anak muda. Berbagai local brand inovasi anak muda Indonesia tersedia disini, dari fashion, aksesoris, fotografi hingga furniture yang unik dan sangat kreatif.

Saat ini, terdapat 22 partisipan di LevelOne dengan 28 brand diantaranya Naima, 16DS, Ciel, Cocomomo, Damn! I Love Indonesia, Deer, Eightshop, Geulis, Harrington Home, House Of Jealouxy, Hunting Fields, Ichwan Toha, Kaligula, Kle, Magic Happens and MYE, Mimsy, Mondat To Sunday, No'om and Soe.Hoe, Plastic Culture, Rebel For A Cause Charity Store, Satcas & Sash, Saint And Sinner, Silla Home, Tikshirt, Tick Tock, Tosavica, Venom, dan Lomography.

Toko-toko yang hadir, semua didesain dengan gaya yang berkelas, layaknya deretan butik-butik kecil terkemuka. Selain toko-toko, Level One juga memiliki sebuah area mini exhibition yang dapat dipergunakan sebagai ruang pameran dan fashion show, juga kafe.

Elle Fanning

The Younger Version of Dakota.

Her surname makes her being shadowed by her older sister’s fame. But let’s take an up close and personal with her. To get to know, she is as good as her sister and much brighter than the shadow.

Marry Elle Fanning yang lahir 9 April 1998 ini sekarang mulai dikenal sebagai artis muda Hollywood. Film perdananya adalah Taken I Am Sam (2001). Sejak saat itu banyak produser yang kagum dengan bakat aktingnya dan menawarkan Elle untuk bermain difilm lainnya. Antara lain, The Door in the Floor, Babel, The Curious of Benjamin Button, Phoebe in Wonderland, Somewhere, dan akhir tahun 2010 Elle syuting film baru “Twixt Now and Sunrise”.

Pertama kali ngeliat Elle main film di Daddy Day Care (2003) saat itu Elle baru berusia 6 tahun. Mukanya super imut dan aktingnya bagus banget.

Elle seneng banget main boneka Barbie. Pas usianya 5 tahun Elle bilang, “I love playing barbies. I have, like 40. I also collect care bears and I have 10.” Dan kebiasaannya mengkoleksi Barbie membuat Elle jadi aware banget sama urusan fashion.

“I love fashion! I love clothes! I really like vintage clothes, so in my closet there’s a lot of ’50s stuff. I go to the stores and shop around.” Elle juga ngefans berat sama Marc Jacob (me too!!). “i wore the Marc Jacobs dress. He has a vintage flair. But I’ve always worn a lot of vintage stuff, so it hasn’t been a lot of designers. If i see something that I like, I just buy it.”

Elle is an actress with some serious fashion potential. She is only twelve,but her press-junket wardrobe is enough to make a grown woman weep. At eight, an age when most of us were still being dressed by our mothers, Elle Fanning was attending premieres for films starring herself and her sister in an array of high end outfits. Omg, I looooove her style!!
